”Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on a path to the best things that will ever happen to us.”
Every journey has detours and bumps in the road. From the very start of our journey – we stumble as an infant, we get our hearts broken, we don’t get that perfect job, we get rejected by family or friends, we lose a job, we lose a loved one, we suffer illnesses, and the list goes on and on.
But in the midst of the sense of loss and sadness that surrounds us when these things occur, there are also unimaginable opportunities that face us based on the choices we make. We can choose how we want to continue on our journey either in spite of or because of what happened.
When our heart is broken, we realize that we will survive. We can grieve the loss of the relationship yet we can choose to move forward letting it strengthen us and not harden our hearts but help us to discover how we love and why. When we lose a job, we can reassess and seek a mentor or advisor to help us evaluate how to better prepare for the next opportunity and take steps in that direction.
If we are stuck in a job that does not fulfill or propel us forward to where we want to be in life, we can use it to help take advantage of opportunities for improvement that help us move forward to where we want to be in life – use it, learn from it, network while doing it, prepare to leave it – move on!!
When we lose a loved one, we can grieve but but try not to let ourselves be consumed by that grief. We should see it as an opportunity to move forward embracing the love and friendship we shared with the person who died and honor their memory by being the best version of ourselves we can be – the person we know they would want us to be and carrying those memories in our hearts.
We need to start seeing bad things as opportunities to do good things! When I wake in the morning, I am so thankful and excited to be alive for yet another glorious day. It is up to me to continue that feeling throughout the day and to pass it on whenever I get a chance throughout the day despite any bad thing that happens. When I find it really difficult, I think of people who are dealing with lives that are much harder than mine. Thinking outside of yourself and reaching out to help others helps you as well and that’s one of the best things!
