Yesterday I spent the better part of the day making pasta. Why bother, you may ask? Many would say that there is plenty of great pasta in the grocery store – freshly made and dried. Why bother? It is a lot of work to prepare a meal for two people but to me it is not a bother but a challenge. Like many other things in my life it is something that I wanted to learn to do and to do well.
It may seem like a small thing, but the analogy is the same. Like many things in life we can always take the easy way but for me the sense of accomplishment comes in doing it myself and doing it well. While my husband loved the pasta even I will admit that it was not perfect (it was a little chewy but with the sauce it was in – it was amazing). Like many other things in life we may not be successful the first time we try something. It may take a few tries but if we are persistent and do not give up, we will be successful.
What that means is that if it is important enough, we will try again and do it better the next time around. We learn by not being perfect but by learning from our mistakes and doing better the next time around. We are all perfectly imperfect and so was my pasta. It will get better because like with other goals I have set for myself I do not give up easily. Whatever is the pasta in your life do not give up! Do not be afraid to try because you may fail and do not be afraid to start over and try again because you just may succeed. Ciao!
