“Today you are You. That is truer than true. There is no one alive who is You-er than You.”
Back in the late ’80s there was a book authored by Robert Fulghum titled “All I Really Need To Know I learned in Kindergarten.” It was a huge success and is still in print today because it reminded us that there are certain basic behaviors that could help lead us to success.
When you think about that it’s so very true. Kindergarten was how most of us got our start on the road to being a good person. We learned to share, play well with others, count to 100 and (wait for it) – listen to Dr. Seuss. Fast forward some sixty years later and I come across a website of several Dr. Seuss quotes. This is one I wanted to share with you.
Not only are You enough, You are more than enough. We are all we need to succeed. When we think about “You” as I think about “Me” here are a few things that we should be.
“Y” as in “Yes” as in “Oh, yes I can!” There is nothing or no one to stop me -oh, man!
“O” as in “Opportunities” – there are plenty around. Sometimes hard to see but they can be found!
“U” as in “Unwavering” “Undaunted” “Uplifted.” There’s nothing to stop me from using what I’m gifted!
So Dr. Seuss doesn’t have to worry about me taking his place but I feel in my heart I can win this race. The race to be strong, to be courageous and true. The race to follow my dream no matter how hard it may seem. No matter how long it takes this one thing’s still true – you can win this race, too, because you are “You.”
