Viola Davis said, “Every little thing in my life is to be celebrated.” Life should not be measured only by our greatest achievements, the size of our bank accounts, the number of likes, the size of our house. It should be the sum of everything that has led to our reaching those accomplishments and becoming our best selves. Sometimes we were lifted and never saw who helped us rise.
We are in so much of a hurry to get there (wherever “there” is) that we forget to celebrate and appreciate every person and every little thing that helped us get there because make no mistake – we cannot do it alone.
If you miss the little things like the smile on the face of a stranger, a cool breeze on a hot summer day, the person who waves hello in welcome at a new job, the smiley face on your morning cup of coffee, the look of acknowledgment that says “I see you” when others do not, and many other similar gestures or acts, you miss important moments. These are the things that can make each day special. These are the things that can lift you on a day when you are looking for motivation. Look for the little things that can help you get there and then pay it forward to bring someone else along.
